Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

The evidence guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, range statement and the Assessment Guidelines for the Training Package.

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Evidence of the following is essential:

utilises knowledge and interpretation of advanced tactics and strategies of golf, and relevant rules, regulations and policies of golf to develop and follow game plans, apply advanced tactics and strategies in competitive situations and analyse own performance

determines own psychological approaches and prepares to apply tactics and strategies accordingly

communicates with colleagues, coach or mentor, officials and support staff throughout activities and games, and responds to feedback

reviews own performance to identify strengths and areas requiring improvement and or modifications.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Assessment must ensure performance of the advanced tactics and strategies of golf applicable to agreed game plan under competition conditions over a minimum of five rounds on a minimum of three 18 hole golf courses and achieving a score on the National Skills Test of over 60 to obtain an official golf handicap as registered with the sport's National Sporting Organisation.

Assessment must also ensure access to:

golf training and competition facilities

a coach or mentor to instruct athletes

suitably qualified golfing officials and support staff:

technological aids and equipment

resources and information outlining the advanced tactics and strategies of golf

rules and regulations of golf, current legislation and organisational policies and procedures that impact on the conduct of drills, activities, games and competitions.

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:
